Featuring the trademark dual screens and simple-to-use controls that players have come to love. the new Nintendo DSi XL Console will take your gaming experience to a whole new level.

Nintendo DSi XL Console Dark Brown

Nintendo DSi XL Console

The DSi XL is basically a supersized version of the Nintendo DSi being almost an inch thicker than with two 4.25" screens, it features two different stylus, one a traditional thin stylus and the other being a larger rounded one that takes the shape of a pen. The Nintendo DSi XL has a similar battery life to the DSi which is around 4 to 5 hours on it's maximum setting and around 13 to 17 on it's minimum.

Since the original DS went on sale in 2005, Nintendo has sold more than 100 million consoles across the globe with it's DS range and Wii console having been credited with bringing a whole new generation to the gaming world.

The new Nintendo DSi XL Console has a glossy sheen on top and underneath a matt finish that gives the gamer an excellent hold when resting on a table or any other surface whilst playing. The DSi XL also comes with the Nintendo DSi Browser allowing easy internet access through a Wi-Fi connection and has the added bonus of it's two included pre-installed games Dr Kawashima's: Little Bit of Brain Training: Arts Edition and Dictionary 6 in 1 with Camera Function.

The Nintendo DSi XL Console also features Wi-Fi with enhanced security and a built-in browser for connectivity to the web, it's wireless range is 30 to 100 feet for DS Download play. With the Nintendo DSi XL multiple gamers can play locally or over the Internet using just one game card depending on the software and also have the ability to connect to Nintendo’s wireless gaming network (wireless broadband access required for Web browsing and online gaming). Also you can download demo versions of Nintendo DS and Nintendo DSi games from DS Download Stations, Nintendo Zone, or via the Nintendo Channel of the Wii console.

As with the DSi, the DSi XL features Nintendo DSi Sound which serves as an interactive voice recorder as well as music player and you can access different audio filters or control the pitch and speed of recordings to change voices or alter the tempo of a song. The microphone of the DSi XL Console is located between it's two screens when the console is open, there's is also a stereo headphone output that lets you listen to music saved on SD cards, even when shut.

The Nintendo DSi XL's wider viewing angle and more pen-like stylus are fantastic for parents of three-year-olds who tend to lose the small stylus on a regular basis and it's battery life at four or five hours per charge at max screen brightness is up from three to four on the DSi. The DSi XL weighs in at 314g which is around 4% heavier than the DSi but it's design and styling is more or less identical. The Nintendo DSi XL is slightly thicker than the 18.9mm DSi at 21.5mm, but this is hardly noticeable.

Like the DSi the DSi XL includes Wi-Fi web browser, online multiplayer gaming and downloadable games from the DSi Shop plus SD memory cards are supported for music and photos. If you have the original DS and have been waiting for an upgrade this could be the ideal time as the DSi XL's larger screens works superbly and you can check out all online functions with a reassuringly weight that you don't get from the dainty DS Lite and DSi. The Nintendo DSi XL also includes music playing abilities, web browsing, camera, sound recording and other great features.

The Nintendo DSi XL Console has received very positive responses from originally skeptical reviewers. They say screen quality is excellent and that the bigger screens help with precise movement in games such as Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow. You would'nt think that being just one inch bigger would make much of a difference but as it is measured diagonally across the screen it actually does when you see it, it's like comparing a 32″ TV with a 42″ TV and you can really see the difference when comparing those.
